As a guy who really didn’t think about trying pilates, yoga or pilates reformer, which uses a machine which looks like it’s built for torture or maybe pleasure! Being stereotypical or not I thought my body can’t get into these positions that these super flexible people can do and let’s be real, I thought it was mainly for women and questioned would I get a workout from this? This year wanting to try something different and knowing the team at Soulhub I decided to take the plunge and give the torture machine a go and first of all boy, was I wrong!! My inner thighs, quads, core were so sore the next day!!My first class was with Perry and these classes are no joke, it’s basically a full body workout, with cardio as well as focusing on core strength and flexibility, you’ll come out of the class sweating! With so much core work you are not just working your abs but muscles I’ve not used to using. It’s also about overall stability which can be challenging at times however Perry was giving you different options and spring settings based on your level as well. With the straps, pulleys, springs, weights, listening to instructions for me it’s not just about working your body but your mind and co-ordination, it’s like being a human puzzle!I have now done almost 100 classes at Soulhub and all the trainers offer a different experience which is great so it doesn’t feel repetitive. So guys it’s not just for women, you will get a workout and the one benefit for me after having a knee reconstruction (ACL) it’s been a game changer in strengthening my quads, hamstrings, glutes to allow me to continue to run around with the kids. Besides these awesome benefits, the best thing to come out of “having a go” is I now do these classes with my daughter and it’s a fantastic father/daughter bonding activity to do together.Seriously give reformer pilates at Soulhub a go, as you will not regret it!!
